A PROMOTIONAL week to raise the profile of the British breakfast begins next week.
Farmhouse Breakfast Week, which starts on Sunday, will emphasise the quality of British produce and the cooked breakfast.
Last year, more than 2,000 events took place across the country.
Next week, North-East farmhouse breakfast events will be held at Darlington Farmers' Market, and in Morpeth, Northumberland.
Organisers will be publicising regional breakfast foods such as Craster kippers on Newcastle Brown Ale bread, bacon, sausages, tomatoes and mushrooms on toast, and Staffordshire oatcakes topped with cream cheese, cherry tomatoes and bacon.
During the week the winner of a competition to find the most cheerful butcher, chosen by the public, will also be announced.
