FOOD workshops launched by a health trust could benefit fishermen.
Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Primary Care Trust has received a good response to its courses, entitled Food, Fish and Health, which will teach people about food preparation and eating.
Held at the Yorkshire Coast College, in Scarborough, the project aims to educate everyone from those cooking for their families to those in the catering business.
Dr Jeffrie Strang, the trust's director of public health, said: "Everyone should eat a healthy diet that is balanced and involves eating the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables. In addition, we should be eating more oily fish."
The Yorkshire Coast Fishing Forum is a partner in the project and manager Jane Sandell said it was a good opportunity to promote the cooking of local fish, and support the local fishing communities.
The workshops are free and begin on Monday, January 27. For more information, contact Marion Commane on (01723) 378139.
