POLICE are appealing for information after a van was set alight on a housing estate in Stockton over the weekend.
At about 2am on Saturday staff at the Cleveland Police Control Room received a call from a resident saying a van was ablaze in the Kensington Road area of Stockton.
The fire brigade were already at the scene and four or five youths believed to be responsible for the blaze were spotted driving around the area.
Police officers saw a car carrying five youths on Stockton High Street soon afterwards and all were arrested on suspicion of causing malicious damage to a vehicle.
They are all released on bail and officers need any witnesses to come forward.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Stockton police on (01642) 302226.
