A GROUP of young people who have ambitions to make their mark on the world of film making have formed a new club.
Formerly known as Club Hype, the group has reformed and will now be named Animates after funding for its first 12-month project ended.
Parents of the young animators have made successful bids for community grants to the Cleveland Community Council and Neighbourhood Renewal with the help of Middlesbrough Council.
This means that the group can carry on its weekly workshops and set up a second animation group.
The University of Teesside was also keen to see the group succeed and has continued to make its facilities available to the club.
Animates is an out-of-school club for 12 to 18-year-olds who meet weekly at the university where professional animators help them to create movies.
Anyone who would like to explore computer animation as well as traditional animation methods and see their work on cinema screen at events, such as the Animex International Film Festivals, can ring the arts development group on (01642) 315 244.
