Division One
Fishburn Park 0 v 2 BEADS FC
Whitby side Fishburn were looking to get back on the winning trail, having only played two matches over the last seven weeks including this weekend's, and two defeats including this one and their 2-0 defeat on their new ground by Grangetown Boys Club. They entertained Middlesbrough side BEADS who have also only played two matches over the last six weeks. After an even opening 20 minutes, BEADS took the lead through as first of the season from Chris Birks. The remaining period of the half saw the home side press forward and in that time they hit the woodwork but at half time they still remained a goal behind. In the second half the home side pressed forward but they fell further behind in the 70th minute when Paul Newham with his 3rd of the season sealed the visitors victory that saw them move up into 5th in the league.
Grangetown BC 2 v 1 Carlin How
Current League Champions Grangetown Boys Club have only had a two week break, one due to a weeks break in the fixtures and the postponement of last weeks match at Mackinlay Park. They entertained Carlin How who also have had a two-week break the same as their hosts. The home side took a 21st minute lead when Paul Cochrane scored, the remaining period of the half saw the visitors press forward but their pressure never brought any reward and at half time they were a goal behind. Ten minutes into the second half the Boys Club looked to have sealed a comfortable victory when Cochrane was on target for the second time in the match and for the 14th time this season, but two minutes later a 5th of the season from Steve Starsmore put Carlin How back in the match and they pressed forward but although they went close they failed to find a second goal and slipped to their 8th defeat of the season.
Stokesley SC 2 v 1 Thornaby FC
Stokesley have also had a two weeks break, their visitors who suffered a shock defeat in the North Riding Cup against Whitby Town Reserves way back at the end of November, have been unable to play a match since, that five weeks. The opening quarter on an hour saw the home side on top and after ten minutes they opened the scoring when James Middleditch with his 7th of the season shot home over the head of the Thornaby keeper to give the home side a deserved lead. This shook the one time League Leaders and they pressed forward from the kick off with Neil Preston and Michael Arif going close or being thwarted by Stokesley keeper Paul Clements who made a number of very good saves, on the odd break Stokesley went close, but at half time the score remained at 1-0 to the home side. In the second half the match was very even but in the 72nd minute Ben Escritt who had proved a handful to the Thornaby defence, made it 2-0, five minutes later Stokesley were awarded a penalty but Escritt but the penalty wide, with six minutes remaining Arif pulled a gaol back with his 14th of the season leaving Stokesley defending for the last six minutes but unable to rescue the first divisions only unbeaten record.
Division Two
Dormans FC 3 v 2 Whinney Bank
The only second division game to take place was between Dormans and Whinney Banks; the visitors took the lead through a Nathan Jameson penalty in the 15th minute. Dormans drew level seven minutes later through James McGowan's 9th of the season but Whinney Banks took a 2-0 lead into the half time break when Jameson scored his second of the match and 13th of the season in the 40th minute. Ten minutes into the second half the match was all-square at 2-2 when Carl Brunskill scored a well-worked solo goal, his 7th of the season. The match then swung end to end but with ten minutes remaining Dormans were awarded a penalty from which Andy Elliott gave Dormans the victory and completed the double.
North Riding Challenge Cup
Teesside Link 0 v 3 Thornaby Mandale
The last representative of the League bowed out of the North Riding Challenge Cup after being beaten by Stokesley League side Thornaby Mandale, what was more ironic was that the player who scored all three goals for the visitors that Andy Dyson was a former Wolviston Reserves player, he scored in the 25th and 35th minute, and scored his hat trick goal in the 52nd minute to secure a place in the next round.
Darlington Charity Cup
D'ton RA Res 0 v 11 Teesside Arriva
This all Second Division Darlington Charity Cup match threw up a second meeting of these two clubs, Teesside Arriva had beaten hosts Darlington RA Reserves 4-0 back in October, in this meeting it took Arriva fourteen minutes before they opened the floodgates and rattled in eight goals in the first forty one minutes. Dave Clarke gave Arriva the lead in the 14th minute, he added his second four minutes later and completed his hat trick three minutes later. Neil hay then scored in the 26th minute and made it 5-0 two minutes later with his second of the match, John Rose then made it 6-0 on the half hour, before Hay scored his hat trick goal in the 39th minute and added his forth to make it 8-0 four minutes before half time. In the second half Brendan Hampshire on as substitute for Hay made it 9-0 in the 55th minute.
