COLIN Ward, riding his Sherco to good effect, won Sunday's Seaton Delaval centre trial for the Johnson trophy by just one mark from best intermediate James Harland on a Beta.
A-class youth Michael Lee also rode his socks off on a Sherco to finish on the same score as Ward on a very wet, boggy course at Thorneyhough Farm, Pauperhaugh near Rothbury. The very muddy conditions saw 21 of the 76 starters retire.
