In the only game to beat the weather in the last fortnight, Sherwoods got their year off to a good start as they collected all three points in their game against Smith & Allan.
In sub-zero temperatures Sherwoods took a 2-0 first half lead thanks to a goal from Adrian Jeff and a fine long-range effort from Ben Chapel. However, Smith & Allan finished the half as the stronger side, and Stephen Todd pulled a goal back just before the half time break to give the visitors hope of getting something out of the game. Sherwoods proved to be just too strong in the second half though, and Gary Barker and Adrian Jeff both struck second half goals to give the hosts an easy 4-1 victory.
