PRIZE pigeons worth £6,000 and recently imported from Belgium and Holland have been stolen from a fancier's loft.
Mike Fitzhugh, a leading pigeon fancier for 40 years, had travelled abroad to buy the birds.
The enthusiast, from Marske, near Redcar, east Cleveland, believes he frightened off the thieves before they took more birds from his garden, in Windy Hill Lane.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Cleveland Police on (01642) 326326.
