DEVELOPERS behind a multi-million pound football school project are to review the scheme.
High Point Estates are hoping that a JJB Sports Soccerdome can be built on land formerly owned by Cummins Engines Company, in Yarm Road, Darlington.
But, as reported in The Northern Echo yesterday, they have been told to rethink their proposals because of a large retail element incorporated into the scheme.
Darlington Borough Council officers had indicated that the planning application would be recommended for refusal, as it contradicted guidelines on discouraging out-of-town retail development.
But High Point bosses say they now have architects looking at every single aspect of the project.
Deni Charvak, of High Point, said: "We are looking at the configuration of the scheme in its entirety.
"Most importantly, the sports facility will undergo some changes.
"When we submitted the planning application, it was in a very basic form and our architects are now working on that."
A revised application for the site is expected to be submitted within the next month.
