About 90 editors, senior journalists, trainers and trainees attended the awards night, in Darlington, which was sponsored by the National Council for the Training of Journalists' North-East Regional Advisory Committee (Nerac), North-East Press and the Society of Editors.
The awards were presented to budding journalists who had either completed or are still on courses at the School of Journalism, Media and the Arts, at Darlington College of Technology.
