Durham Alliance football league side, Sporting Club Sunderland, are about to enter the most important period of their short existence.
Tomorrow they visit high-flying Teeside Arriva, of the South Cleveland Garages Teeside League, in a last 16 tie in the Washington aged Peoples Trophy, then, a week later SC Sunderland, host Arriva in the prestigious Durham County Trophy.
This is amazing progress for a club like Sporting who formed from scratch at the start of this season, bringing together some of the best players from in and around the north side of Sunderland to form a team that is dumbfounding all in their quest for silverware.
The management team, headed by Tarnjit Sangha, have done a great job by keeping their team in the hunt for all competitions.
In with a great chance for the Durham Alliance League title, in the semi-final of both the Durham County Trophy and the League Challenge Cup and also in the last 16 of the Washington Aged Peoples Trophy sees the pressure on the new boys.
This cup double header could be a platform for Sporting to go and achieve an almost impossible dream.
Both games kick-off at 1.30pm.
