A capacity 80 car entry has been attracted by Darlington and District Motor Club for the fourth running of The Jack Frost Stages Rally at Croft Circuit tomorrow.
Utilising all of the tarmac roads around the venue, the event, which comprises qualifying rounds of the North of England Tarmac Championship and the Kent Cams ANCC Stage Rally Championship, starts at 9.30am and the club is aiming for as many as ten stages with at least one running in darkness.
Number one seed, Scotsmen John Bogie and Davie Paterson, who won last year's event, are debuting their new MG Metro 6R4 and expect to have a mammoth battle with Scotch Corner preparation expert Tony Bardy in the Nissan Sunny GTiR, as well as winner in 2001 Dave Holland (Staffs) in the indecently quick Ford Escort Mk2. The Subaru Impreza's of Medomsley driver Barry Renwick and Castleton ace Ryan Champion are expected to be in with a shout, as are the Ford Cosworth's of Andy Fenwick (Lamesley) and Kevin Procter (Leeming Bar).
Local drivers feature strongly with Scorton's Stephen Petch and Michael Wilkinson, Tow Law, looking for a class win in the Ford Ka and Darlington driver David Cox being partnered by Gilling West's Terry Searle will be out to put their Rover Metro ahead of the two wheel drive opposition.
Spectator admission is £5 with parking within the circuit confines. Further information can be obtained from Croft on (01325) 721815.
