A WOMAN was shocked when police found a bag with 35 bars of cannabis resin in her bedroom, a court was told yesterday.
William Wilson, 34, had not told his wife that he was hiding it there for a drug dealer in return for a promise of a nine ounce bar for himself.
Police said that the 9.27 kg of cannabis had a street value of £21,000, said Christine Egerton, prosecuting.
Teesside Crown Court heard that Wilson, a father of five, became addicted to cannabis after he tried to quit alcohol which left him with a life threatening illness, said Jonnie Walker, defending.
Wilson, of Birch Road, West Cornforth, was jailed for eight months after he admitted possessing a Class B drug with intent to supply.
