A SUCCESSFUL anti-speeding campaign has been extended to new areas of Darlington.
The flashing unit, called a Speedvisor, displays the speed of an approaching car to warn drivers if they are breaking the limit.
While the units were in Fitzwilliam Drive in the town, excess speeds were cut by 50 per cent.
They have now been moved to Coniscliffe Road and the road between Sadberge and Middleton St George.
A spokeswoman for Darlington Borough Council, which owns the units, said: "There had been concerns from people living in these areas that a lot of motorists were breaking the 30mph speed limit.
"The Speedvisors have proved successful in other places so we are hoping they will cut speeding in these two areas."
The monitors will stay in their current positions for another week before being moved elsewhere in the town.
The scheme is being backed by Darlington police which is providing back-up patrol cars to try to catch speeders in the area.
