FILM crews are to return to the Yorkshire coast to make another major movie.
Making Waves will be based on the story of the pirate ship 270 which used to broadcast off Scarborough in the 1960s.
Its stars include Richard E Grant, Michael Gambon, Angus Deayton and Johnny Vegas.
Filming is expected to begin in the spring, using locations in and around the resort.
And writer Simon Nye - the man behind the TV hit Men Behaving Badly - has been lined up to pen the script.
The news has delighted tourism chiefs, who feel it will raise the profile of the town and help to attract visitors.
David Jeffels, the council's cabinet member for tourism and leisure, said: "It is excellent that our coast is once again going to provide the backdrop for a film.
"Movies like this, and television series like Heartbeat, get this beautiful part of the country priceless exposure not just nationally but internationally as well.
"The pirate radio station is part of Scarborough's history and I am delighted a film is to be made of it."
The Yorkshire coast is no stranger to film crews and several major films and TV shows have been filmed in the area. Little Voice and A Chorus of Disapproval were both made in Scarborough as was the new TV series, The Royal.
