THE movements of Tees-siders are being chronicled to help plan the area's future transport needs.
Tens of thousands of motorists were flagged down and asked about the journeys they were making and the routes they were taking.
The information will help the Tees Valley Joint Strategy Unit analyse various options, including a new Tees crossing and a potential light transport system.
Head of transportation Andy Hyams said: "Taking into account those who were questioned at the 24 survey sites across the Tees Valley - and those who completed postcards - no less than 18,000 journeys were logged, providing a vast amount of information which will be crucial in enabling us to complete the study report which, later this year, will recommend which major transport scheme should be pursued and put forward for Government support."
