SECURITY cameras are to be fitted to the shed which houses Scarborough's miniature railway engines in an attempt to deter vandals.
The move follows a blaze at the sheds over the weekend before Christmas. Arson has not been ruled out.
Scarborough Borough Council has confirmed it will be installing cameras on the buildings along the Peasholm section of the line.
"The North Bay miniature railway is a very popular attraction for both locals and vistors and we are very keen to get the engine shed back into working order well before the start of the season," said the authority's leisure chief, Steve Hollingworth.
"Work has begun patching up the roof and rebuilding part of the rear wall, which were both badly damaged. At the same time we shall be improving security, not least by adding some cameras."
