A NORTH-EAST secondary school has received a national award for its commitment to football.
High Tunstall, in Hartlepool, is the first school in the town to be awarded the Football Association's Charter Mark Award.
A few months ago, the school received a Sportsmark from Sport England in recognition of its overall contribution to sport.
Lesley Shepherd, sports co-ordinator at High Tunstall, said: "Football is popular throughout the school and we are delighted that our commitment has been recognised by the Football Association."
Former pupils who have gone on to carve out a career as professional footballers include Ray Gooding (Coventry City), Mark Gavin (Leeds United), Paul Proudlock (Middlesbrough) and Michael Brown (Sheffield United).
