A SECOND tour behind the scenes of one of the region's cathedrals is to be held following huge public demand for an event later this month.
A Jolly Up January evening tour of Durham Cathedral was organised as a fundraiser for St Cuthbert's Hospice, Durham.
The 60 places were quickly snapped up for the event, on Thursday, January 30, which will take in parts of the Norman cathedral to which the public do not normally have access.
A waiting list was drawn up and the hospice has organised a repeat, on Thursday, February 27.
As with the January event it will include a chance to look around the chapter house and prison, a visit to a monk's cell, followed by a tour round the treasures of St Cuthbert. The evening ends with supper in the undercroft.
Funds raised from the event will support the hospice, in Park House Road, Merryoaks, which provides free, specialist palliative care for people with life-threatening illnesses in the Durham, Chester-le-Street and Spennymoor areas.
Tickets for the tour cost £19.50 and can be booked by contacting Michele or Ann, on 0191-386 1170.
