THE search is on for young people across the borough of Stockton whose hard work and achievements deserve recognition.
Last year, the Stockton Mayor's Achievement Recognition Trophy (Smart) awards were launched to mark the efforts of young people aged 19 and under.
The awards proved to be so popular that the event will be held again this year.
People from around the borough are being asked to nominate youngsters they would like to see recognised for their bravery, hard work and achievements. Young people can be nominated by their parents, friends or school, or someone who has been impressed by their efforts.
There are ten categories of awards - educational achievement, educational effort, sport, volunteering, community work, the arts, teamwork, bravery to overcome a challenge, achievement by someone with special needs and an exceptional award to a child of primary school age.
Young people can be nominated for one or more of the categories.
The Mayor of Stockton, Councillor Jean O'Donnell, said: "This is such a wonderful way to recognise all the marvellous things that young people across the borough do, things that often go unnoticed and unrecognised."
Nomination forms for the awards are available from libraries, sports complexes, youth centres and council offices. They are also available by contacting (01642) 393482.
The closing date for nominations is February 20, and the awards will be presented on March 21, at the Baptist Tabernacle, in Stockton.
