THE sounds of the 1940s will be recreated at an event later this year when community campaigners take a stroll down memory lane.
Pilots, WAAFs, soldiers, land girls, spivs and GIs will be at the Swingtime event at the Borough Hall, The Headland, Hartlepool on Friday April 11.
The event has been organised by Hartlepool Re-enactment Society, which aims to increase public understanding of early 20th Century military life, as well as helping promote the Heugh Battery on the Headland.
It is working in partnership with the Headland Development Company's community development team.
Doors open at 6.30pm with dancing until midnight. Tickets are £5 each and include a pie and pea super. They are available from the Headland Development Company at 152 Northgate, Hartlepool.
For further information contact the company on (01429) 420302.
