PEOPLE with skin problems can expect quicker treatment with the launch of a dermatology service.
The Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Primary Care Trust is launching the service later this month. Initially, it will be open to all patients registered with practices in the centre of Scarborough.
If successful, it is intended to extend the service to the rest of the region.
It will be run by two specialists, Dr David Knowelden, of the Claremont Surgery and Dr Malcolm Abrines, of Danes Dyke Surgery - who have both worked for more than seven years as clinical assistants in dermatology at Scarborough Hospital.
The service will deal with routine skin problems such as skin tags, eczema and psoriasis and there will be two sessions a month at each surgery.
