SECURITY glass specialist Romag is celebrating finishing a major contract at HM Treasury's building in London.
The Consett company has provided solar control glass for the building in the heart of Whitehall.
A total of 1,700 windows were upgraded by removing the old bomb-blast curtains.
The new glass has a UV filter safety and solar control film to stop Treasury workers getting hot under the collar.
More than £6m has recently been invested in Romag's specialist glass plant which helped them win the Treasury contract.
Keith Morrison, sales director of Romag, said: "We were delighted to be involved in such a prestigious landmark development.
"Our major plant investment is enabling continual product improvement, there is no other glass manufacturer in the country who could have provided the solar control of our California series glass in a single glazed unit."
Romag produced the laminate by encapsulating a heat rejecting film between two layers of polyvinyl/ butyral (PVB) within the lamination process, resulting in high performance solar control.
As the film is applied during lamination it is an integral part of the glass and not an add-on. The process can be used for both single or double glazed units.
Conservation was a major factor throughout the work and each window was subsequently re-beaded to retain its original design.
