COUNCILLORS will meet on Monday to discuss a plan to develop a recreation ground in Hartlepool.

The Grayfields site has facilities for a range of sports including football, rugby, basketball, outdoor bowls and tennis.

At present, the site suffers from vandalism and arson attacks, the athletics track is defunct and the changing areas are basic.

In an attempt to revamp the site, Steve Wells Associates spoke to a range of sports and other groups who use the facilities.

They then came up with a development plan and more consultation was held last month.

Proposals included new changing facilities, a new play area and the development of football on the site, including an improved pitch to meet the requirements of the Wearside and Northern League.

Hartlepool Borough Council meets on Monday to consider the plan.
