YOUNG people in Wear Valley will be offered golf coaching thanks to the success of a local history book.
The Friends of Crook Town Football Club have donated £500 to the town's golf club to give youngsters the chance to learn a new sport.
The money was raised through the sale of a book about the football club, written by local man Michael Manuel, called Crook at Work and Play.
He and fellow 'Friend' John Phelan are now working on a book about south west Durham football clubs and the FA Cup.
Mr Phelan said: "We had a grant from Wear Valley District Council to put the book together so wanted to use the proceeds to put something back into the community. We want to provide sport activities for local youngsters and have successfully worked with the golf club before. We also hope to provide cricket coaching and possibly football in the future."
