PAINTING work will be carried out to Saltburn's seafront lifeguard station in time for the summer.
Councillor Ian Jeffrey, of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council said: "The building is owned and managed by the council and needs to reflect the investment that has gone into the surrounding area."
The building is used as a base for Saltburn's community safety wardens and by lifeguards.
CHILDCARE DAY: Information about jobs in childcare will be on offer in Hartlepool next week. A Childcare Careers and Recruitment Information Day, organised by Hartlepool Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership, is being held at the Grand Hotel on Tuesday, from 2pm to 7pm. People from training groups, the Employment Service and the Children's Information Service will also be on hand. LECTURE LIST: Cleveland Retired Men's Association has announced its programme of slide shows and talks for the coming months. The group meets every Wednesday in The Regency Hotel, Coatham Road, Redcar. Coffee is served from 10am, with the guest speaker at 10.30am. CENTRE OPENS: Staff at the Stockton Riverside College's travel agency will officially open their new facilities today. Invitations to join in the celebrations, at Riverside Travel, have been sent to clients and local businesses. Students at the college studying travel and tourism courses are able to benefit from the facilities, which provide a real working environment. The event takes place at 11am at the college, in Harvard Avenue.
CHOIR MEETING: Redcar Male Voice Choir held its annual meeting recently. Members heard that the group had a healthy bank balance, the choir attended 20 charity functions last year and that new bookings were being taken. Bob Palmer was appointed treasurer. BIG TIDY-UP: On Saturday, February 1, at the Old Billingham Community Centre, Billingham, Rainbows and Brownies will be helping residents tidy up the community wildlife garden. They will also be making bird feeders for the garden.
ANIMAL HELP: Saltburn Animal Rescue Association will hold a table-top sale in the Methodist Church, Saltburn, on Saturday. A tombola at the Marske Veterinary Surgery raised £673 for the group.
TOP SALE: A table-top sale to raise funds to stage Saltburn Folk Festival in August will be held at Saltburn Community Hall, between 10am and 4pm, on Saturday.
