Six hardy members of Billingham Swimming Team competed at Preston in a biathlon/triathlon braving the elements. The weather was cold, wet and windy for the run resulting in the course being wet, muddy and extremely heavy going. The competitors made it a family affair with brother and sister, father and daughter and husband and wife all competing.
Thirteen-year-old Lisa Sheehan competing in the biathlon, swam and ran brilliantly picking up sixth place.
Fifteen-year-old Emma Wilson also performed excellently picked up sixth place in the biathlon and seventh in the triathlon.
In the Ladies Master event Shirley Fawkes was outstanding coming fourth in the biathlon and picking up a bronze medal in the triathlon and picking up a personal best in the swimming.
Fifteen-year-old Matthew Sheehan against tough competition acquited himself admirably coming eighth in the biathlon and ninth in the triathlon also picking up a personal best in the swimming.
Two men competed in the Masters. Mark Wilson swimming a personal best performed superbly coming 12th in the biathlon and ninth in the triathlon whilst Guy Fawkes also performing brilliantly came seventh in the biathlon and tenth in the triathlon.
