THE first pedigree Limousin sale of the new year at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, was a major reduction of the noted Simbo herd.
Sixteen lots from the herd, bred by Graham Simms and his son, Nigel, of Hulse Farm, Lach Dennis, Northwich, Cheshire, went to Andy Ryder of Moffat. His purchases for his Annanwater herd included eight cows, four bull calves, two heifer calves, and a maiden heifer which made the sale's individual top female price of 2,150gns.
The Ryders also paid the combined top price, 3,100gns, for a cow and calf outfit going to one buyer. Simbo Oswiss, a 4-year-old cow by Haltcliffe Flashman, sold separately for 1,800gns to the Ryders. Her second calf, the July-2001-born bull calf by Jupiter, sold to them for 1,300gns.
Paying the top bull price, 2,600gns, for Simbo Rexie, a 34-month-old bull by Sarkley Oscar out of Simbo Nellie, were I A & W Forsyth, of Ashington, Northumberland.
