AN INDEPENDENT girls' school in Eaglescliffe has topped Government GCSE results tables.
Teesside High School is the only school in the area to obtain a 100 per cent pass rate, with each girl achieving at least five A to C grades.
The school has also obtained the region's highest score for subject passes per pupil.
Headteacher Hilary French was pleased with the performance.
She said: "This is a tribute to the dedication of the teachers and the hard work of the students."
Mrs French added that she was encouraged by the performance of all the girls and dismissed suggestions that exams are getting easier.
She said: "The students did not find their exams easy, and have only achieved what they have by solid application and learning.
"It is encouraging that young people still want to succeed and enjoy the challenge of learning."
The head of year 11, Malcolm Wilkinson, added that the school had made great efforts over recent years to boost the confidence of weaker students.
