THE king of rock and roll was shaking everyone up at one of North Yorkshire's leading independent schools and proved to still be number one.
Golden oldie Elvis Presley took centre stage at Queen Mary's School, near Topcliffe, and beat off stiff competition from the likes of the Cheeky Girls and Atomic Kitten.
Behind the black wig and white suit, twelve-year-old Alice Appleyard, from Easingwold, was delighted to win the school's annual miming competition.
More than 50 youngsters, between the ages of seven and 16, imitated their favourite pop stars in the contest in aid of this year's Comic Relief Appeal. Charlotte Short, eight, and Megan Weetman, seven, both from Dishforth, were runners up with their version of the Cheeky Girls, from Popstars: The Rivals.
Teacher Debbie Hannam said: "There were some super entries and it was great fun. The children certainly enjoyed themselves and it looks as though we have raised about £120."
