RIVAL petitions have been organised for and against plans to extend a North Yorkshire village school.
A petition backing the extension at Rockcliffe CE Primary School, near Boroughbridge, has attracted 91 signatures.
One which opposes the scheme has been signed by 41 people.
The school, described as an attractive listed building overlooking the village green, is in a conservation area status.
A final decision will be made by Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott.
But the application has also been passed to North Yorkshire County Council as education authority to Harrogate Borough Council for its comments.
