Durham City Ladies
THE Ladies recorded their first victory of the season with a tremendous performance against Darlington RA. This result lifts City two places off the bottom of the table and eases the team's relegation worries.
Durham Uni student Charlotte Rimmer scored City's first after a good lay off from Becky Welch. Welch then unfortunately had to leave the pitch through injury, however this gave City top scorer Helen Richardson a chance to play after returning from injury herself.
Richardson scored for Durham in the second half to wrap up all three points, but City could have won by more as they played most of the game in the Darlington half.
Durham Manager Stephen Hamil was delighted, he said: "We haven't played for about a month with the weather being so bad, but the girls have been training twice a week and they were all really up for it today on a heavy pitch. It would be easy to let our heads go down being bottom of the league at Christmas, but right from the whistle today I could see that the girls really wanted to win."
