A VETERAN peace campaigner has won a legal fight to continue a religious tradition she has maintained for 25 years.
Grandmother Lindis Percy, 61, appeared before Harrogate magistrates after being arrested outside the US military base at Menwith Hill on January 14, during a protest.
She is accused of obstructing the highway near the base and crossing the carriageway after being told not to.
Mrs Percy, of Bellfield Avenue, Holderness Road, Hull, pleaded not guilty to both charges and was bailed until February 17, on condition she did not go within 50m of the base.
Mrs Percy said that on the first Saturday of every other month for the past 25 years, she had attended a Quaker worship meeting at the base.
The court relaxed the condition on the days of the worship, from 1.45pm to 3.15pm.
