Elegend Peter Shilton makes an appearance in the region later this year.

The former goalkeeping great played between the sticks for Nottingham Forest, Southampton and Derby during a glittering career and will be guest speaker at the tenth Darlington Allstars Junior FC sportsman's dinner.

Shilton, who was goalkeeping coach at Middlesbrough in 1997, will be the star attraction of the evening which takes place at the Dolphin Centre in March.

He surpassed the one thousand league appearances landmark while with Leyton Orient in 1996, going on to make 1005 in all while his 1002nd came in a fixture at Darlington in December 1996.

Taking place on Friday, March 7, the sportsman's dinner includes a three-course meal while comedian, Gary Skyner, will also be performing. Priced at £25, tickets are available from Paul Lodge on (01325) 484553.
