THE brother and sister of Girls Aloud star Cheryl Tweedy's brother and sister have appeared before magistrates after a street brawl.

Just weeks after Cheryl, 19, feared she would be thrown out of the Popstars: The Rivals band after being arrested for punching a toilet attendant in a Surrey nightclub, her siblings, Andrew and Gillian Tweedy, appeared together at Newcastle Magistrates' Court.

The court heard how the pair, aged 22 and 23, celebrated their sister's success on Sunday, November 17, but had a drunken row with each other as they made their way home in Byker, Newcastle.

Fighting began outside the Raby pub when revellers spilled out to break up the row.

When officers arrived at about 7pm, the fight had already broken up and no one was arrested.

But trouble flared again when the pair made their way to the nearby Byker Metro train station, the court heard.

They ended up in another fracas with a couple on the platform. Police arrived to find two men and two women brawling close to the tracks.

The brother and sister, along with another man, were arrested and taken to Byker police station.

Andrew Tweedy, of Heaton, Newcastle, and Gillian, of Walker, Newcastle, pleaded guilty to affray.

Magistrates bound the pair over to keep the peace for 12 months with a fixed penalty of £100 each, to be paid if they got into any further trouble.
