THE future of a historic 60ft Grade II-listed wooden fence still hangs in the balance months after a council decision to demolish it.
Guisborough Town Council wants to remove the fence outside Sunnyfield House, in Guisborough, and replace it with an metal version.
After weeks of discussion, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council agreed to the fence being removed.
However, because it was listed and both English Heritage and the Ancient Monuments Society objected, the final decision has been referred to the Government Office in Newcastle.
Guisborough Town Council has said it wants to remove the fence because it has been repeatedly vandalised in the past.
