A CHAMPION of people with speech difficulties will be the only delegate from the region at the launch of the European Year of People with Disabilities, in Athens this weekend.
Edwin Farr, MBE, from Newcastle, who sits on the General Council of the European Disability Forum, flew out yesterday to join about 500 delegates at the conference. He will represent people with speech problems at the event.
Mr Farr is the co-founder and chairman of the European League of Stuttering Associations and received an MBE for this work in the Queen's Golden Jubilee Birthday Honours.
