A Bishop Auckland school was the target of arsonists again at the weekend, having already suffered a serious blaze before Christmas.
Old furniture left in a disused gymnasium at King James I Community College, South Church Road, was set alight on Friday evening.
Firefighters from Bishop Auckland fire station were called to the scene at about 10.30pm and were able to extinguish the blaze before it damaged the 80-year-old building.
The same building had been boarded up since an arson attack last March.
In November, a single-storey teaching block, one of several due to be demolished this year, was severely damaged in the same way.
