A TRILOGY of plays which are an artistic director's swansong are on course to become a big box office hit.
Rob Swain is directing Alan Ayckbourn's trilogy The Norman Conquests, three plays set in three different parts of the same house over a weekend, at Harrogate Theatre, North Yorkshire.
"Some of the performances are already near to selling out. A week before opening we had reached 65 per cent of our financial target," he said.
"Something like 50 per cent of the bookings are by people coming to see all three plays. There seems to be an appetite for something like this."
The opening of the three plays - Table Manners, Living Together, and Round And Round The Garden - is staggered over several weeks.
Mr Swain chose Ayckbourn's trilogy because he wanted to do "a rollicking comedy" to complete his final season after five years at the theatre.
He has previously directed five of Ayckbourn's plays, including Living Together.
The Norman Conquests run until February 22. For tickets (01423) 502116.
