WRITERS are being encouraged to put pen to paper for Gateshead Council's annual short story competition.
This year's theme is rivalry, and the story should be no more than 1,500 words.
There are two categories for writers - over 18s and under 18s - with cash prizes in each category.
Entry forms and rules are available at libraries across the borough and all entries must be in by Friday, February 9.
