A review of car parking at Darlington Memorial Hospital is being conducted by borough council officers and health officials to resolve problems experienced by patients, visitors and staff.
The health trust has requested the review of parking infrastructure as part of its green travel plan.
CRIME FIGURES: Chief Superintendent Michael Banks, of Darlington police, has welcomed figures showing there was just one crime per hour in Darlington at the weekend. On Friday 23 crimes were reported in the town, on Saturday 21 and on Sunday 24. Chief Supt Banks said: "In a town of more than 100,000 people I still think it is encouraging."
MP VISITS: Darlington MP Alan Milburn will visit the new computer suite at the town's Crown Street library on Friday. The £72,000 e-library is due to open in early February.
CRASH DRIVER: An 80 year-old man was taken to Bishop Auckland General Hospital for a check-up yesterday after his car left the road and collided with a parked vehicle outside The Postchaise pub, near Bishop Auckland Market Place, shortly after 9am. He was later allowed home.
BAZAAR SUCCESS: The Christmas bazaar at St Mary's Church, Gainford, raised £1,345 for church funds.
COMMITTEE THANKS: The Winston playing field committee has thanked everyone who helped to raise more than £500 during the Christmas fair in the village hall.
HOSPICE VISIT: Staff from Asda's Darlington store visited St Teresa's Hospice yesterday. Asda adopted the hospice as its charity last year and has raised more than £5,000 for its work.
AREA FORUM: A meeting for Sedgefield Borough Council's area forum for Newton Aycliffe will be held in the Great Aycliffe Town Council offices, School Aycliffe Lane, today, at 6.30pm.
COMMITTEE MEETS: A meeting of Sedgefield Borough Council's scrutiny committee covering regeneration and environment will be held in the council offices, Green Lane, Spennymoor, today, at 10am.

BIKE SNATCHED: A red Honda quadbike was stolen from a shed at the Forest Enterprise offices in Hamsterley Forest on Sunday between 8.45 am and 7.20pm.
CANTEEN RAID: Bishop Auckland police are investigating a burglary at the RMC concrete products depot canteen, on the St Helens industrial estate, between 1pm on Sunday and 5.45am yesterday. Anyone with information can contact police on (01388) 603566.
