ALMOST 80 per cent of the 4,500 council house tenants on the Yorkshire Coast voted in a ballot to decide whether they should switch landlords from Scarborough Borough Council to the new Yorkshire Coast Housing Association.
Councillor Bill Chatt, cabinet member for housing, said 71.7 per cent of tenants had voted in favour of the switch.
He said: "It was an excellent turnout. Now a great deal of further work is to be carried out to ensure that council, its tenants, and Yorkshire Coast Homes can bring the transfer to a satisfactory conclusion."
