FOOTBALLING teenagers made a special visit to a nursing home to thank residents for their sponsorship.
The team from Spennymoor Comprehensive went to Lothian House in the town, sporting a new football strip provided by the nursing home.
Residents were delighted to meet the boys and are looking forward to watching them play in school matches.
PE teacher Russell Braithwaite said: "This was a very generous offer from the home and we have invited the residents to come along to our home games whenever they can.''
The visit coincided with the home's open day, which was attended by relatives, members of the community and special guests the Mayor and Mayoress of Sedgefield, Coun David Newell and Coun Lucy Hovvels, and Spennymoor Town Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Coun Ross Hawkes and Elsie Summerson.
Home manager Odette Thorpe-Willett said she was delighted to see the teenagers. She said: "We wanted to do something and we thought it would be a nice idea to provide the team with a new strip."
