A SIXTH generation of a Scarborough fishing family has quit the beleagured industry.
Danny Normandale, 31 is now taking a course to join the Merchant Navy because of the plight of the fishing industry after skippering the trawler Imperial, owned by his father, Fred, for several years.
The Normandales have been fishing out of Scarborough for many years.
Fred Normandale said: "We hope Danny will be able to return to fishing in the future.
"There will always be a fleet at Scarborough but I don't know what form it will take in the future. The Government wants a chocolate box type fleet which will do very little to damage fish stocks."
