Police are searching for one of the occupants of a car involved in a crash in Sunderland on Monday.
A red Ford Escort was travelling down Mill Hill Road when it left the road and struck a fence. Two men, aged 21 and 23, from Doxford Park and Hall Farm, were taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital with head and neck injuries. A third person, also believed to have been injured in the crash, fled the scene on foot. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sunderland police, on 0191-454 7555, extension 66226.
CHARITY GRANT: A disabled charity is celebrating after being awarded a grant of £2,300. The Barley Mow Housebound Club, based in Birtley Community Centre, Gateshead, has been given the cash by Gateshead Council.The group caters for about 30 people with disabilities. Paul Foy, of Birtley Labour Action Team, said: "The club represents a lifeline to a number of people as it represents their only social contact. We are delighted that Gateshead Council's cabinet has agreed to the grant."
PROM PREPARATION: Easington Community School hosted a fashion show last Thursday to give pupils ideas for the forthcoming annual leavers prom. Local firm Just Perfect brought 36 dresses to model, and Troughear Menswear, of Gilesgate, donated several tuxedos for the evening. Male pupils and staff were auctioned off to raise money, and the evening raised more than £500 for the prom.
MAN FOUND: Ian Shaw, a 40-year-old coach driver from Horden, east Durham, who went missing from his home in McGuinness Avenue, on Monday night, has called at a friend's house. Search and rescue teams, the coastguard and the North-East Air Support Unit were mobilised to look for Mr Shaw after his car was found abandoned on the A1086 coast road.
