A CHARITY concert organised by the chairman of Richmondshire District Council has raised nearly £1,000 for his chosen causes.
The event, at St Andrew's church, Grinton, Swaledale, on January 11 featured Reeth Brass Band, Swaledale and Arkengarthdale Parish Choir, and soloists Lucy Lundberg and Mark Walters.
A total of £971 was raised through ticket sales, a raffle and donations and will be split between the Motor Neurone Disease Association and the Northallerton and district branch of Diabetes UK.
Council chairman, Councillor James Kendall, said: "It was possibly one of the best concerts ever held in Grinton church - but I may be biased."
