ALMOST 1,000 musicians from 32 of the North's leading brass bands are playing for pride at the weekend.
Competition will be keen in Sunday's grading competition at Spennymoor Leisure Centre organised by Durham County Brass Band Association.
Bands face the music from 10am and the contest is expected to finish at 8pm. Doors open at 9.45am. Tickets are on sale at the door.
Section A bands are: Broughtons, Chester-le-Street Riverside, Easington Colliery, Ever Ready, Felling, Fishburn, Gateshead, Greggs Bakery, GT Group Peterlee, Kirbymoorside Town and Langbaurgh.
Section B: Barnard Castle, BHK (UK) Horden, Cockerton, Pride Valley and Spennymoor Town.
Section C: Billingham Silver, Durham Constabulary, Ellington Colliery, Ferryhill Town, Houghton, Lanchester, Murton Colliery and Ashington Colliery.
Section D: Aycliffe and Brancepeth, Bearpark and Esh Colliery; Dunston Silver, Five Rivers, Lockwood, Marske, Sacriston and Stanhope Silver.
