Kwere certainly knocking on January 18, in wet and cold conditions, nine members took part in the Eston Nab Nee Nocker Fell Race.
First home for the club and third overall was Paul Figg in a time of 36.59 and he was followed by Ken Maynard in sixth place with a time of 39.02.
Others: Andrew Henderson 7th 39.26, Scott Archbold 26th 45.54, Barrie Kirtley 44th 51.30, Keith Richardson 51st 54.22, Dave Mason 53rd 55.00, Terry Deary 63rd 67.50, and finally making sure nobody got lost, club chairman Mike Horan 64th 69.22.
The men's A team finished a creditable second overall, while the B team came a respectable seventh.
The Eston Nab Nee Nocker was part of the Club Championship. Jes Smith is still leading with 271 points, followed by Colin Morris, 257 and Dave Mason 238.
Beverley Snook, not content with competing in her first 10K road race in December, decided to tackle the NYSD Cross Country event held at Acklam Grange on Sunday, January 12. As usual, conditions were bitterly cold and muddy but Beverley battled through to bring the ladies team home in a creditable fifth position bringing the cumulative placing of the team to fourth position. Dawn Richardson finished the 3.5 mile first for the club and fifth overall in a time of 17:57.
Others: Caroline Davies 18th 19:51, Denise Kelvey-Brown 30th 21:52, Sarah Gamblin 39th 22:45, Julie Giblin 46th 23:40, Beverley Snook 49th 26:41.
In the men's race, Alasdair Tatham finished the six mile course first for the club and 16th overall out of 137 runners in a time of 28:10.
Others: Alastair MacKenzie 54th 30:50, Wayne Bramley 60th 31:08, Graham Park 72nd 31:37, Nick Millar 81st 32:22, Steven Snook 86th 32:44, Dave Giblin 96th 34:12, Dave McLachlan 114th 36:22, Ian McMaster 119th 36:56. The team finished third in Division Two.
The only contender for the club in the Under-13 boys race was James Snook completing the two mile course in 12:31 to finish 17th.
In the two mile Under-13 girls race Stephanie Millar finished 31st out of 42 runners to complete the course in 12:27, followed by Seraphina Kelvey-Brown, 35th, 13:19.
Once again, Michael Bond was the only Quaker to compete in the 2.5 mile under 15 boys race. He finished the course 13th in a time of 13:59.
And Alexandra Marie Snook finished the Under-15 girls race of 2.5 miles in a time of 14:31 finishing 16th.
