AN oil rig worker who hurled racial abuse at his family doctor was ordered to pay £1,000 compensation yesterday.
The surgery incident left Dr Paul Chatterjee on medication.
His abuser, Andrew Gollogly, claimed he was under stress and was worried about his teenage son, who he feared might have cancer.
His lawyer said that Gollogly had written a letter of apology to Dr Chatterjee at his surgery in Normanby, near Middlesbrough.
Gollogly, 39, pleaded guilty at Teesside Crown Court to using racially aggravated language.
Aisha Wadoodi, defending, said Gollogly was not a racist, and he expressed remorse.
Gollogly, of Pritchard Road, Ormesby, was ordered to pay £1,000 compensation, £145 costs and to do 100 hours of community service.
