PLANS to demolish an Edwardian building and replace it with six flats look set to be approved today.
Members of Stockton Borough Council will meet to discuss plans to demolish the empty Stafford Villa, Stafford Close, Thornaby.
The building dates from the Edwardian period, but a report says it is of little historic or architectural interest.
In 1982, it was converted from offices into accommodation for single people and it then became a care home.
Currently unoccupied, the building is a target for vandals.
The Tees Valley Housing Group plans to construct a two-storey building with six flats, a communal lounge, office and staff accommodation.
The flats would be used to provide accommodation for young people coming out of local authority care.
Two people have objected to the plan over concerns about anti-social behaviour.
However, council officers say there is little risk of this.
